Can you give us a short description about your font?
The essence of Halunken (Halunke is German for scoundrel) is based on a simple concept.
The basic shape is defined by the reflection of two unequal curves on a diagonal axis. This formula can be translated on to most letters, creating a unified impression of the whole typeface. Another excellent feature of Halunken is its possibility to interchange the lowercase and capital letters. They all share the same font size, so you can easily create different versions of one single word.
What is the ideal usage of your font?
I see this font as great bait… the fish will be hooked!
Why did you design this font and what was your inspiration?
There are so many meaningful moments in life. However, I have dim memories of my first date with Halunken.
Most likely, this typographic measure was born out of sheer ingenuousness and fearlessness, but it took half a decade for it to thoroughly ripen and finally be put in a lucky bag.
Where does the name come from?
In German, Halunken are villains, crooks, parasites or frauds, who are immediately forgiven after having received their knighthood as Halunken.
I like the fact that an original denotation can be given a completely new perception and that my Halunken is a font!
